FAMILIAR DREAMSCAPES

Opening Reception: Friday, January 24 | 4 - 6 PM

Gacha Gallery is thrilled to kick off the new year with Familiar Dreamscapes, our first exhibition of 2025. This captivating art show celebrates the extraordinary beauty found in the everyday. Featuring the evocative works of three talented artists – Grace Clark, Lotem Tchernichovski, and Loraine Zhou – each offering a unique perspective on traditional art and storytelling. We invite all art enthusiasts to join us at the opening reception to view the art in-person.

Familiar Dreamscapes invites viewers to explore the magic of the everyday, as seen through the eyes of these three talented artists. Through traditional techniques, nostalgic themes, and playful interpretations, the works on display reveal the world’s hidden wonder and warmth. Each artist brings their own story, medium, and philosophy, resulting in a cohesive yet diverse collection of artworks.

Grace Clark captures the comforting companionship of animals in her illustrations. Her work, rooted in traditional mediums, evokes nostalgia and warmth through cozy subject matters that offer a respite from life’s chaos. "A large part of my identity is being an introvert," Clark shares, "so I created this illustration to commemorate the importance of animal companionship, which is sometimes all I need to feel joy and warmth whenever I am alone.”

Lotem Tchernichovski paintings reflect a sensitive approach to her subjects through careful observation and a love for the material world. "In painting there is no hierarchy of subject," she explains, "so be it a doll, a dog, or a person they are treated with equal care on my canvas." Her process emphasizes simplicity, vibrant shapes, and colors over hyper-realism, creating an engaging puzzle for viewers to unravel. "The real fun comes in the way the painting process reveals a new way to experience the world," she says.

Loraine Zhou creates vibrant and dreamy illustrations that bring joy and imagination to life. A teaching artist, she draws inspiration from her love of pink and whimsical imagery. Zhou’s work straddles the digital and traditional realms, creating charming pieces that resonate with audiences of all ages. "I love working both digitally and traditionally in my work," she shares, "and I’m interested in opportunities in illustration related to children’s books and beauty."
